The downturn in the economy has led to consumers looking for better value and they are now doing much more research before spending.
For many retailers and service providers this is bad news. House builders in particular are suffering and this is certainly borne out by the reduction of quote requests from that sector via our own website over the past two months.
The encouraging thing for our own business and others that trade on offering high-end products at low-margin affordable prices, is that more and more consumers are now using the internet to source their goods.

As some of you may already know, I’ve been pretty vocal over the years on a particular subject – the regulation of kitchen installers.
In April 2002 I wrote the following to the KSA (Kitchen Specialists Association), now known as the KBSA, (Kitchen Bedroom and Bathroom Specialists Association)

Not being someone who wishes to use our pages or forum as a sounding board, I’m afraid I have to break my own rules in this blog and the subject is – interior magazine journalists.
Any company or person wishing to raise their profile must never underestimate the power of good promotion and for the projects we do here, we are no different but it seems that to be acknowledged for such by the journalists who contact me regularly looking to cover projects, is a luxury only offered to those who maintain the status of magazines by their glossy overpriced goods
